General Instructions for Users
   Except laptop readers are not allowed to carry their personal belongings (bags, brief-cases, parcels etc.) and eatable items inside the library. Their belongings should be left at the baggage counter located at the entrance.
   Always carry your Student ID card when you are visiting the library, failing so will forbid your entry to library.
   Members must come to the library in person for the loan of books.Student cards are non-transferable and must be produced at the request of Library personnel.
   Visitors/outsiders are allowed with prior permission from the University Librarian with an introductory from the concerned Organization / Institution.
   Books available in the Reference section (Hall No.1), BHG Gallery, G.D. Birla Collection, Thesis and Dissertation, loose issues of periodicals are strictly NOT-FOR-LOAN and will not be issued.
   Readers should not carry books from one hall to another. Books or other materials taken from the stacks should not be re-shelved by the readers. Please leave them on the table after your consultation to avoid any misplaced.
   Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage marking with pencil or ink on books/ periodicals is an offence.
   If anyone is found doing so, he/she will be charged with the full replacement cost of damaged material and may lead to suspension of library account and be barred from entering the library.
   Readers are requested to handle the Library property (computer/furniture/fixtures etc) with care to prevent damage.
   Stealing or damaging Library books is a serious offence. If identified, the fine will be Rs.2000/- (rupees two thousand) per book and will be suspended from the library for 15 days. Please ensure that you are carrying only issued and personal books from the library.
   Eatable items are not permitted in the library.
   The use of mobile phones and other noisy instruments is prohibited.
   Users are not allowed to take cuttings from newspapers. The required information may be photocopied.
   Issued documents can be recalled any time, if necessary.
   Members should maintain silence in the library and should not disturb other users in any way. Members should not engage in conversation in any part of the library causing disturbance to fellow readers. Loud discussions are allowed only in the discussion area.
   Users of the library should note that all e-resources subscribed are licensed materials and cannot be shared with the external community as it may lead to copyright/license violation.
   Sitting on the table and keeping your legs on chairs is not permitted.
   The arrangement of chairs in the Reading Rooms should not be disturbed.
   Library's photocopying services are fee based and the users must comply with relevant copyright legislation.
   Readers leaving the library are required to allow library and security personnel to examine their personal belongings.
   The library has every right to terminate the membership at any time in case of any violations of rules and regulations.
   Members should follow all rules notified by the competent authority from time to time, in addition to these rules.
   All users are requested to follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines.

General Rules and Regulations for using Rooms Brainstorm room/GD Room/ MakersSpace (3D Printer & HPC) / Research Zone / Ideation Zone / Interview Carrel/ Multimedia Studio
The BITS Library provides creative space to its users for the purpose of group discussions/presentations/Webinars, etc. To ensure appropriate use of the rooms, the library is adopting following policy:
   Booking must be made online. (https://library.bits-pilani.ac.in). Login using your BITS email address (as username) and password to submit your booking.
   Only students, faculty and research scholars of BITS Pilani are allowed to book the various spaces like Group Discussion Rooms / MakersSpace / Research Zone / Ideation Zone / Brainstorm/Interview Zone/3D Printer/HPC/ Multimedia Studio. These facilities are meant for group use only.
   Please meet the library staff at Library Help Desk prior to your stipulated time to open and provide your requirements as per the confirmed booking on Library Portal dashboard.
   Bookings can be made as per the permitted slots for each of these facilities and exceeding the time slot is not allowed hence the booking start time and end time should be adhered strictly.
   Booking is allowed for a maximum of 3 days in advance.
   Users are responsible for the equipment and furniture/ fittings in the room and must take care while using them. Heavy fine will be charged to the person who booked the room for any damage caused by any of their group member. For any help please contact library staff.
   The library reserves the right to cancel the booking if the group fails to turn up within 10 minutes of the booking time and allot the same to the next group that needs it.
   Discussions/presentations in these rooms should not disturb other users.
   Please ensure cleanliness of all these rooms and switch off the lights/fans/AC, LEDs, PCs while checking out.
   The library reserves the right to access the rooms for inspection at any time and to suspend the use of facility and/or impose fines on any misuse of the facility.
   The library reserves the right to modify or change these terms and conditions without prior notice.
   The charges to use 3D Printer will be accumulated and charged to students/Research Scholars semester wise SWD Mess bill.
   The interactive displays in each of these rooms should be used with utmost care and: a. Writing on the boards with any type of markers, pens, pencils, crayons, etc. is prohibited as it will damage the board. Use the smartboard pen that can be collected from the Help Desk along with the keys for the room. b. All these rooms are under CCTV surveillance for better monitoring and security purpose. c. Request library staff to help you to provide any additional needs and requirements if any during your allotted time.
   It is the responsibility of the person booking the discussion room to take care of the furniture, accessories and equipment’s in the room. The charges for damaged equipment / furniture may be equivalent to the cost of replacing the same. Please contact library staff at Help Desk or call us at 01596 255373 for any assistance.
