Last night, at around 11pm., I re-entered my college campus at BITS Pilani. It was very cold.
I said a silent prayer of thanks as my car entered the gates of the campus. This is the academic Institution which, over forty years ago, shaped my life.
I entered this campus in 1980 as a young boy of 17 years, living away from family for the first time ever. I left this campus four years later as a confident adult, schooled not just in its classrooms, but in its vibrant hostels, cultural platforms and, not to forget, its students' union.
It is therefore such a privilege to be speaking at the BITS Pilani literary festival later today, where my recent book "Doing the right thing - learnings from Ratan Tata" will be unveiled. This book has been launched at other literary festivals too in the past few weeks, but for it to be featured at my own Alma Mater - that is really, really special.
I am also proud that BITS Pilani does not stage just engineering or science events, but also puts special efforts into organising an annual literary festival featuring its alumni authors. This is what BITS Pilani has always been - a place where you develop every aspect of your mind, heart and personality. A crucible of life.
Our bonds with our college campuses last for a lifetime. I am so excited to be back on my own campus today. Once again, somehow, I feel like that young boy of 17 years. Hello, Harish.
Look forward to your kind comments. Even a few words is fine. Thank you !
